We-Are-Familia at Fountain Miami
I spent last week in Miami helping some friends set up a show at the Fountain Art Fair. Basel and the many satellite art fairs were transforming the desolate Wynwood area of Miami into a colorfully busy place for a few days. Fountain is a bit less formal than the other fairs, so it was a challenge turning the empty warehouse into an art space, touching up the walls with paint and improvising our own gallery lighting — a fun excuse to spend a week at the beach and meet some artists in any case.

Unlike most of the booths at Basel inhabited by galleries, We-Are-Familia is a collective of artists. 50-strong, they create work in all mediums around the theme of family. There weren’t many other booths showing such a range of work — paintings & drawings, prints & photographs, furniture and found objects, books & videos and shirts. Below are some photos of the setup and show.
